The bride-elect is well known in Silverton and Salem and for several years has been a mem ber of the lone high school fac ulty. She is a Willamette uni versity graduate and a member of Delta Phi sorority. All former students of the Mt. Angel Normal and College and Mt, Angel academy are to meet at the Salem public library in the fireplace room next Tuesday at 8 o'clock to organize an active chapter of alumnae. A. Sampson, a week ago. Mr., Carpenter is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer V. Carpenter. There has been no date set for the wedding. (Kennell-Ellis). MacDowell Club Will Sing Salem MacDowell club, well known singing organization of this city and at the present time the only MacDowell affiliation in Oregon, has announced Thurs day, December 11, as the date of the first two concerts to be presented by the group this year under the baton of Bernard Bar ron. The concert will be held at the high school auditorium. The second concert will be held next spring. The MacDowell group has taken an active part in music in Salem since its organization in 1919 and each year has pre sented an interesting prograb. Further announcement will be made at a later date of details of the concert. AAUW Musiccde Date Is Set Selection of definite date and place for the American Associa tion of University Women's an nual formal Christmas musicale has been announced by Mrs. Chester F. INDEPENDENCE A tea will be given today in conjunction with the observance of the 60th ' anniversary of the Calvary Pres byterian church, when Reverend and Mrs. W. B. Mahon and mem bers of the church, will have an "at home at the manse from 2 to 5 p. m. in honor of the older members of the church. Bouquets of chrysanthemums will be used in the guest rooms.
