Of this $500 would be for the water system and ' f 1000 to the cemetery. At. the election on May 17. city officers will be elected including .mayor, recorder, treasurer and three councilmen. The election board includes L. L. Shields, Mrs. George C. Mason, Mrs. Grace Tharston. Mrs. S. A. Pease and Mrs. Maud Epley. J El? PERSON Mr. and Mrs. Frank V. Because of ill health of both Mr. and Mrs. Hamill, they were unable to look after both service station and camp cabins: howerer tbey are retaining; tbe ramp cabins. Little Paul Benninghoff is baring tbe whooping cough, and Joe Carroll has the measles. V. H. Sherman who lires in the southeast part of Jefferson, suf fered a paralytic stroke Monday. He ia 92 years old, and because of his advanced age, little hope Is held for his recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Ricks are the parents of a seven-pound son born to them Sunday, April 28. The baby has been named Del ford Ed gar. Santiam Lodge -Registers 6550 Winter Skiers LEBANON A total of 1,550 persons we're counted at the1 San- tiam winter sports area this sea son, according to the report of R.. C. Burgess.' district ranger, though it was an unusually imild winter with small snowfall. ! - The Ski clubs of Albany, Cor vallls. Lebanon and Sweet Home organised a ski patrol of 20 mem- . bers which was called upon to help in 26 cases. It is said that nose of the accidents were serious though six were fractures. The other 20 were sprains. Of the victims, IS were men and 11 were women. The patrol was made up of volunteers who were unpaid. Mother-Daughter Banquet Is Given At Amity Church; Nearly 100 Attend AMITY A mother and daughter banquet, under the auspices of the Foreign Missionary society of the Methodist church of Amity, was held Friday night at 7 o'clock in the church p a r 1 o r s, with Mrs. RoyO Freeman as toastmistress. The rooms and tables were beautifully decorated with red tulips and red tapers. Woodburn Faculty Has two Vacancies WOODBURN Superintendent Milton E. Gralapp said yesterday that teachers have not yet been chosen to succeed Helen Lots, who has resigned as commercial teacher, and Mabel Wearer, fifth grade Instructor, who will teach next year at Junction City. Mary Matley and Esther Hettinger of Woodburn will succeed Edna Ol son and Lois Edmundson, who re signed. The choirs of the Nidaros Luth eran charch of Monitor and the Immannel Lutheran -chnrch of Woodbnrn will combine to give a sacred concert tonight at the Woodburn Methodist church. The program will begin at 8 o'clock. There will be no admlslson fee, although a silver ottering will be taken to buy musle for the choir. Billy reached for something he had dropped orer board, lost his balance, and fell Into the rlTer. The other two boys went for aid but It was not natll late in the afternoon the body was recoTered about 75 feet, below where he had fallen In by Ed Llndley and Clyde Gorro. The lumber In the buildings will be used by the new owners for the constrnction of a church edifice at Sera relhill, where the group has been holding meetings in the old schoolhouse. One house was razed Sunday and another was" pretty well torn down by Monday erening. . Most of the work is being done by members of the church. This church con gregation observes Saturday as their day of worship.
