Church Planning For Celebration Salem church people are being Irfvlted to join theOregon City Methodist church in. celebrating the 100th anniversary of the event which began the first Pro testant church in the Oregon country. In commemoration of the . ap pointment of Alvlng Waller to Oregon City by the Methodist church in 1840, a banquet will be held In the Oregon City high school Friday night. May 10. Two days later special Sunday services will be held in the Oregon City Methodist church at II a.m. and 2:30 p.m. with prominent men attending as guest speakers. In addition to the historical significance, the celebration next month will initiate a plan for building a new Methodist church building in Oregon City. The structure is to be completed in 1144, the centennial of the dedi cation by Rev. Gustavus Hines of the first Protestant church erected west of the Rocky mountains.
