PAGE TWELVE Stocks Have Broad Rally Week's Losses Wiped out in Market Upsurge; Business Active .(" NEW. YORK, Sept. SO-CD-6 stock market wound up the week today with a ' broad rally - in the : "war Infant" shares which spread to other sections of the list, more than, wiping out the attrition of five preceding days of irregular or declining prices. The upsurge began with the opening and continued throughout the short session, 'with leaders at their best, up fractions to around 6 points, at the finish. Business was active for a Sat nrday and transfers totaled 843, 340 shares compared' with 562. 460 a week ago. The Associated Press average of 60 representa tive stocks climbed .9 of a point at : S3. 2. On the week the average gained .4 of a point. Weekly tran sactions totaled 8,825,290 shares against 9,663,300 in the preced Ing period. Reversal of yesterday's down swing was attributed largely to the conviction of many traders France and Great Britain would shun the peace dove which flew from the joint Russo-German cote at Moscow Friday morning. High St. Ph. 7633 The OREGON STATESMAN, Salem, Wheat Rallies Over 2 Cents Disquieting Europe News, High Security Prices Cause Buying CHICAGO, Sept. 30-P)-A rally of more than two cents a bushel in wheat prices today halted the week's slump based partly on Eur ope's peace talk which had wiped out a good share of the Septem ber war boom advance. Buyers reentered the wheat and other grain pits on the simulus of higher security prices, clearing weather oyer the farm belt and disquieting; news from Europe in dicating that peace is not in sight. Wheat shot up more than a cent at the opening and later ex tended the gains to as much as 2i cents, closing near the highs or 2 -2 higher than yesterday, December 84-, May 85-85. Other grains followed this - ad vance. Additional rains were reported in the southwest overnight but skies began to clear and the fore cast indicated fair weather could be expected, with light to heavy frosts in prospect. Little moisture Is in sight for the coming week. Crop experts said rains apparent ly were too light in most dis tricts to bring lasting drought re lief but may prove sufficient to germinate winter wheat already sown.
