Sorting out Loot Wearies Coppers PORTLAND, July 20-(iP)-While three young men and a girl charged with burglary rested In Jail today, weary detectives segre gated' articles claimed by persons who said they were victims of about 20 "pillowslip" robberies. A southwest Portland house where Lewis Lafollett lived alone yielded the articles,! including household . goods, sports equip ment, clothing, radios, clocks and miscellaneous items. -- - - Held with the' 18-year-old La follett were . Frances Lwwis, 18, Eugene Kingsley,- 13, and Leroy Dolson, 18. Police' accused, them of raiding homes' and carrying away approximately $3000 worth of goods In pillowslips. : Complaints were filed against Lafollett, Dolson and Miss Lewis after their arrest yesterday. Amateur Photog Attracts Not J SILVERTON HILLS Consid erable interest is being shown in the hobby of Ted Weldon, a mem ber ot the Silver Creek Falls CCC camp. Weldon has been studying photography, and has made some interesting studies of various points in the state park. He has been doing bis own fin ishing and enlarging and a num ber of his prints are adorning the walls in the Roman Kints store. the only concession so far within the boundaries of the state park Sea Scout Craft On Display Today Open House Slated Aboard 36-Foot Boat by Sea Scout Troop Full sail set, 368 square feet of it, and all brass polished to Its maximum brightness, the Willam ette Sea Scout ship "Willamette Ship" will be on display in its' berth at the foot of Chemeketa street all day today while mem bers of the local sea scout troop act as hosts to the public for an open house aboard their 36-foot craft. The scouts have invited all interested persons to come aboard at any time during the day. The boat, which is a regulation naval whaleboat fitted with sails, and capable also of running an der power ot a large-size outboard motor, will be open for inspection, according to sea scout leaders, for today only. Tomorrow morning the anchor of "Willamette Ship" will be hoist ed at 6 a.m. and the craft will get under way down the river bound for Portland, where it will afford training facilities on the Columbia river for local scouts during the remainder of the summer., crew of 17, commanded by Skipper W E. Thompson, wilj be aboard for tne voyage. Masons, Aviators ' Picnic on River RIYERDALE There was a large attendance at the Masonic picnic held at Riverdale park Sunday, and an unusually enter talning program was enjoyed by all who were present. Despite the cold wind Monday night, members of the Salem Fly ers' club enjoyed swimming and a picnic supper at Riverdale. Next Sunday. July 23, the Pet tyjohn clan will hold their annual reunion at Riverdale. Bean to Capital For ICC Hearing Crmond R. Bean, state utilities commissioner, will leave Friday for Washington. D. C, where he will attend an interstate com merce commission hearing " in volving northwest freight rates on petroleum and petroleum pro ducts. Petition for reduction of these rates was filed -by the railroads but was opposed by the truck op erators. A preliminary hearing on these rates was held in Portland re cently with Clyde B.
