CIccnni Outlines- Dose Festival and Winter Sports Queen Will . 1-. ; Come, He Says MT. ANGEL 8am Slocum of Portland, general manager of the ML Angel flax festival to hi staged sometime in August, and principal speaker at the Flax- arian meeting . Monday autTh. stated that prospects pointed to wards bigger and better cele bration than last year. ; : The winter sports tournament ' queen and her court will be here, Elocum assured the -Flaxariant. So will the Rose Festlral queen. and the Eastside commercial club expects - to enter a float. The idea seems to be to make the parade an ' outstanding fea- ture this year. The Flaxarians, who are backing the celebration, " were asked to work along r. unit line and each member to bring in ' one float and one - queen candl date. It was suggested that Mt. Angel sponsor at least four can didates so as to give the candi dates from other towns an even break in the race for queenship. Tentative plans Include a sub stantlal prlxe for a band contest; arrangements to have the queen and her entire court visit the . San Francisco exposition, a linen contest on 5 a, large scale, and a special afternoon show for the last day of the festival. ;- General Committee This general committee was appointed to supervise arrange ments: Arthur Holmes, Peter Gores, A. J. Butscvh, Ed Un ger and Walter Smith. The first problem seems to be to raise funds to enter b float jointly wun suverton in the Fort land Rose FestivanThe Silverton baud and the marching Flax arians would accompany the float. T. B. Endres, Walter Cain - and Walter Smith were named on a committee to confer, with the Silverton commercial club about ways and means. Sugges tions were for a benefit dance. v ..
