Sunday ' night serv ices will 'close the 40-hour de votion period. Father Carberry has returned from Ames, Iowa, where he was called at the serious illness and death of his mother. ANGEL It was announced this week that Decem ber 17 is the daie set f or Frater Thomas Brockhaus of Mt. Ansel abbey to be raised to the deaconate. The rite will be administered by Archbishop Edward D. Howard of Portland in the abbey chapel Frater Thomas was made sub-deacon last sDrincr and next june win De oraainea to tne priest-c hood. He is the son of Mrand Mrs. Joseph Brockhaus of Mt. Angel -and has received all his theological training at Mt. Angel seminary. - The reason for the postpone ment of the rite which is usually held in September was the condi tion of the abbey chapel, the re modeling of which had not been completed at the time. Two Automobile Accidents Come To Same Family DAYTOX Th J. B. Stilwell family, the evening before Thanksgiving, suffered two auto mobile accidents. Misses Claire and Virginia, en route from Port land to spend Thanksgiving with their parents, figured in a three- car accident near Roamers Rest. Miss Virginia Jost several front teeth and suffered a bruised forehead and cut chin. The car was almost completely demol ished. In about two hours Mrs. Stil well and daughter, Miss Claire. started to drive to Dayton. When near the Joe Dorsey farm Mrs. Charles Stephens of Hopewell, be ing blinded by lights, collided with the Stilwell car and It is also almost a complete wreck. Both Stilwell cars and the Ste phens car are insured.
