T. Leonard. Dr. P. A. Loar. chairman of the Bewer system committee, reported that more investigation had to be made before the matter of a spe cial election was presented to the city council. He explained, that the city only had two items in the trailding of the sewer to meet, the cost of pipe and the cost of the engineering. Pipe" conld now be had, the government officials had figured, for $3000 "which is about one third the cost if purch- e.s. Or wig Co. MARKET AND LOCKER BOXES "fl I f N. Com. 6723 Phone Fri. & Sat. Dr. Loard said, a local engineer figured it at $8,835. - It was pointed out that at even the , highest figures the project which would ordinarily cost the city $150,000 would cost less than $20,040 under WPA. r ' Want Road Widened The subject of widening and resurfacing the road between Sil verton and Salem was widely dis cussed. The council voted to ask the chamber of commerce to put forth further effort in this line and to ask the cooperation of Mt. Angel business men. The . first division was left In the hands of the Woman's club committee composed of Mrs. L. G. McDonald, Mrs. A. j P. Solie and Mrs. Jay Morley, already at work.
