Convention Is Bands y The Quarterly coneention of the north Marlon county Sunday School association will be held Sunday afternoon at the MB church in Donald. Rev. Ralph Kleen of Woodbum Is to be the speaker. All cooperating Sunday schools are asked to contribute special musical numbers. Walter Sarock of Hubbard Is president of the conrentlon. The semi-annual all-day meet ing ot the Presbyterian Woman'a Missionary society was held at the church Wednesday. Mrs. Robert Harper was program lead er. Mrs. Sumner Stevens was hostess for the covered dish luncheon. There were about 20 women present. The St. Rita's Altar society held a social afternoon at the parish hall Wednesday. Hostesses were Mrs. Joseph BorrJs, Mrs. Wenzel Eder and Mrs. J. A. .Ferschweiler. Entries Come in For Polk County Lamb Show 18tli DALLAS Entries for the first Pplk county market lamb show have been coming In to the county agent's office this week ini numbers which indicate con siderable interest in the show and which indicate that this first undertaking will be a success. This show is to be held in Monmouth on Saturday, June 18, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Lambs are to be brought to the show before noon, however, In order that a Judging contest for 4H and . Future Farmer members might be held. A lamb carcus cutting demon stration has been arranged for as well as one on wool grading. Also, for the benefit of breeders there will be a demonstration on the administration of a meth od of treating sheep for worms using the liquid - Instead of cap sules as had been customary heretofore. ! This show is Intended for mar ket lambs only which will be classified as to either long wool breeds or medium wool breeds . nradn or cross breeds will be shown with purebred lambs and all entries , Judged together lor there will be no special classifies tion for 4H club members and Future Farmers as they will com pete with adult breeders. Wilson Home Is Opened to Circle DALLAS Mrs. R. C. Wilson entertained the members ot Cir cle C of the Presbyterian church at her home Wednesday after noon. The guests' rooms were attractively decorated with bou quets of summer flowers. A short business meeting was held with the president, Mrs. George Knrr, presiding. The remainder of the afternoon was spent in sewing with . a pleasant tea hour j following. Mrs. Clar ence Curry and Mrs. Ellsworth Wilson assisted in serving. ' Mrs. Fred Toner, Mrs. L. G. Smith. Strawberry Growers of Scio Deliver 25 Tons for Salem Shipment SCIO About 25 tons of straw berries have been received at the Morrison warehouse this sea son for shipment to Salem. The local berry growers' association last winter pooled its 1938 crop, selling to the Kelly cannery at Salem. The price received Is 4 cents, it 1 is stated. Frank W. Davis, 85 Of Albany Called ALBANY Mrs. Francis Eu dora Davis, 85, of Albany died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Wilbanks of Halsey, Tuesday night, following brief illness. Funeral services will be held this Friday afternoon from the Fisher, funeral home, la charge of Rev. J. R. Turnbull, former pastor of the Albany Bap tist church. Burial will be in i Riverside cemetery. Mrs. Davis was born in Mis souri. August 9. 1852, the young est daughter of Newton Smith, a pioneer. Methodist missionary, v On February 8, 1872, she was married to Daniel S. Davis at Polk City, la. In 1890 Mr. and Mrs. Davis came to Oregon. On February 8, 1937 they celebrated their 65th anniversary of their wedding, -and on August 10, ot the same year, Mr. Davis died In this city. Surviving are three daughters, two Sons, Mrs. John Wilbanks, Mrs. Lylo Chance, and Harry E. Davis of Halsey. and Mrs. Theo dore Hoflich and Claude Davis of Albany. Acheson is the only mem ber of his family who came to the United, States, and he has not been back to the old home since he and Mrs. Acheson re turned there on their wedding trip.
