Hassler of Leb anon and the daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Downing sharing in the festivities. Bruce Baxter to Speak Before Chamber Group SILVERTON Dr. Bruce Bax ter will be the speaker at the Silverton chamber of commerce at its Wednesday night 6:30 o'clock dinner meeting on Feb ruary 16. Traffic Resumed With Removal Foot of Snow PIONEER There was about a foot of snow in this community Sunday morning, making the roads impassable without chains until the track was broken. How ever, the road is open and the regular traffic is moving. Engineers Arrive For Flood Survey ALBANY Ben L. Campbell, accompanied by a party of US army engineers arrived in Albany this week, to conduct a survey of the southwestern Marion county bank of the San tiara river in con nection with the erosion bank con trol. The Investigation will cover that part of the Santiam river be tween Jefferson and the mouth of the river. This is the first district, Camp bell said, as far as he knows, in cluded in the Albany territory to have completed its organization and applied for federal funds. There are five districts in Linn county, in process of formation or nearing completion. Mr. Campbell has not been notified, , bo far he said, as to whether his party would be assigned to these dis tricts as they become eligible to surveys. Willamette Thespians To Give Plays, Macleay MACLEAY -Willamette uni versity students will put on two one-act plays "Postoffice" and "Martha's Mourning" under the direction of Mrs. Chester Oppen at the grange hall Saturday niht, under grange sponsorship.
