Winnipeg prices, up J to I cents, at times to new highs for the season, led the advance and buyers here took their cue from the bulishness of traders on .the Canadian market. The lmmediat ecause for buy ing was believed to be a sew and apparently official report that the Argentine grain board was alarm ed over heavy wheat exports from that country and might enforce ' restrictions. Trade Doldrums Large Sizes in Demand But Stocks on These Are at Low Ebb Trading In northwestern dried prunes during the past week has been the dullest of any period since the end of the waterfront strike. Heavy shipments made lm mediately after the strike hare lately reached destination and jobbers' supplies remain falrlv heavy. The consumer demand has been light and, until jobber hold tags iare reduced. It Is thought there will be little demand for replacement. Nearly all packers report rery little trading for the past week or 10 days and ex press a view of disappointment. Large sized prunes would sell If ample supplies were available, but the holdings of 30-40s are lim ited and held at a premium. Current sales and quotations on prunes quoted in 25-pound boxes. F.O.B. Portland docks are as fol lows: 8-40s, -6c per pound; 40-50S. 4-f c: 60-60s. 4-4 c: 60-70-. 4c; 70-80s, 3e; prunes packed in sacks c per pound less. There are estimated to be very few prunes remaining in growers' hands. A few growers having un sold supplies nave stored with packers and secured an advance loan, the remainder of the pur chase price to be delivered at the time of packing. s London Supplies Short A cablegram received from the London office of tbe department of , agriculture dated March 16 stated: "Spot supplies short and all sizes moving, but prices show further declines on larger ship ments. Packers appear to be press ing for business, but buyers are reluctant about making purchases owing to the ample stocks afloat. California quoted 30-40s 6.3 to 6.4c per pound; Oregon 40-50s. 4.9 per pound, C.I.F. port. Dried prune stocks in London, giving points of origin are: France 4.57, California and Oregon. 472.1, Aus tralia and cape 6.89, total 4 83-56 (basis 2.000-pound ton); last year, 2.713; 1935, 2,244 tons." New Super-Coach Delivery Is Near No delay is expected in the de livery of Pacific Greyhound's 100 new 1937 super-coaches, accord ing to word received yesterday by L. D. Jones,, traffic manager for the bus company. The General Motors bus factory at Pontiac. A short time ago, Pacific Greyhound-lines purchased 50 of these new coaches, placing t h e m in service between major cities in California. Mr. Jones stated the additional coaches were purchased because of the traveling Public's warm reception to the new-type equipment, and will be' placed in service on other routes and in transcontinental service.
