Water Now'Used To Inflate Tires Farm Tractors ' Prevented From Boancirig Throtxgh : This NoTel Method Pneomatle tires axe now being partially tilled with water to Im prove traction, reporta W. H. Zo sel, manager of Goodrich Silver town store, 198 South Commercial street. " ; ' Not the tires you use on your automobile, of course, nor those on your truck. If you ova one. But in farm tractor tires,. those huge rubber casings which roll OTer the fields, pulling plow or harrow. doing the work horses once did, according to engineers of the B. T. Goodrich company, Akron, Ohio.' : , After sereral years of experi ment with tires on farm tractors and other farm implements, one of the -greatest problems waa to keep ; the tires from bouncing around, and thus losing their trac tion, while they were pulling heary equipment orer s rough, uneren ground. f s v Other Means Tried . Jaetal weignts ; were In many cases . attauhed to the wheels to weight them down, but these were an additional expense to the trac tor operator. Putting them on and taking them off was a constant 4n conTenience. -, ,. - So the Goodrich engineers, after more than a year's experiments. now recommend the use of water in farm tractor. tires. - , Use of ' water proTldes normal euanioning wunouc re do una or bouncing of the tractors or other equipment. They giro the tractor greater tractire atbility and bet ter riding qualities. - To facilitate putting the water into the tires, the Goodrich, en gineers hare de-eloped a simple. inexpensive "adapter," one end of which is fitted to a garden hose and the other to the tire Talre.
