EXCLUSIVE FRIGID AIRE DEALER Funeral Services Held For Pioneer Mrs. Mary L. Bilyeu, 83, Dies ; Final Rites at Jefferson JEFFERSON. Aug. 5. Funeral services for Mrs. Mary L. Bilyeu, 83, who died ai the home ot her daughter, Mrs. Delia Epley at Sheridan, August 1. were held from the local Christian church Tuesday afternoon. Rer. Chand ler of Sheridan conducted the service. Mrs. Chandler and Mrs. Caudle of Sheridan sang and Mrs. J. O. Van Winkle of Jefferson presided at the- piano. Pallbearers were T. O. Keater, Charles McKee, J. L. Blackwell. K. S. Thurston, Elmer Knight and S. H. Goin. Interment was in the family plot In the Jefferson cemetery.- . Mary L. Calavan was born July 13, 1853, on the donation land claim ot her parents, Joel and Parthenia Calaran, near Crabtree, where she spent the early part of her life: November 12. 1871. she was married to William Bil you. who died eight years ago. One son. Lake Bilyeu, died in 18. The early part of their mar ried life was spent in Scio and vicinity. Later they moved to Jefferson, where she resided for the past 40 years until her last illness about two years ago. She was a member of the Jefferson Christian church.' She was the last of a family of eight children : six brothers and one sister . having preceded her In death. Mrs. Bilyeu was the oldest woman member of the Bil yeu clan, and was permitted to hold the silver cup until her death, when It passed on to the next oldest member. '." ; - Surviving are two sons, Lloyd R. and Glenn O.. of Jefferson, Ore., and one daughter, Mrs. Del la Epley of Sheridan; seen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Out of town relatives who at tended the funeral services were Mrs. Claude Calavan ot Vancouv er, Wash., Mrs. Ann Calavan of Sumner, Wash., Mrs. Neva Neely, Sacramento, Calif., Mr. and, Mrs. E. R. Main, Kelso, Wash., Dr. Van Bilyeu, Mrs. Hazel Newbill, Mr. and Mrs. Percy Calavan and fam ily, and Mrs. Esther Calavan of Portland; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Bil yeu, Mrs. John Gill, Mrs. "Hugh Klrkpatrick and daughter of Leb anon, Mrs. Minnie Bilyeu and Vir gil Calavan ot Albany, Mr. and Mrs. George Bilyeu, and Mrs. Iva Abbott of Scio. Both Mrs. Phillippi and Mrs. Hassler are getting new cars which they will drive home. Mrs. Philippi will -get hers in Detroit. Mich., and Mrs. Hassler will get her car In Flint, Mich. ' Grain threshing is under way here in full force, both with threshing machines and combines. Wheat is reported excellent with sereral fields running 45 bushels and bet ter to the acre. Oat crops are-not turning out as well as expected, many of them areraging between 50 and 55 bushels an acre which is a low oat run In thia com munlty. ' i Not onlr the grain crop of wheat is good but the straw crop is so heary that threshing la con siderably slower than usual. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Elsele and two friends of Arcanum, Ohio, the for-i mer a cousin ot Carl Launer, were their guests here Thursday and Friday. Mr. Eisele is a former resident ot the Webfoot rlclnity, but left here with his parents more than 30 years ago. their home was the Albert O'Dell farm. Mr. Eisele and his friend are rural mail carriers and hare accumulat ed their racatlons until they hare how seren weeks to spend on this trip. They hare a rery modern equipped trailer house. They risited their aunt Mrs. Calla Whit more on Chehalem Mt. They came the southern route and up the coast and will return by way of Glacier National Park, Yellow stone park and Salt Lake City. Parson and daughter, Irene, of Salinas, Calif., are on their way tor Oregon. The Parsons own a farm in this community and they are coming to look after the harresting of their crop.
