The OREGON STATESMAN, Salem, Oregon, Tuesday Morning,. February 23, 1936 PAGE EIGHT Diiist Storm Fertt m Highest Point Since January 1NW Series of "Dusters" Feared; Corn Receipts Are Bearish Factor CHICAGO. Feb. 24-p)-Wbeat rose a cent a bushel to the high est price with but a single excep tion the July future has reached since January 27. Uneasiness over dust storms in the American southwest, together with buoyancy of markets at Liv erpool and Winnipeg, was in large measure responsible. Trade reports from the dust bowl region taid a ne wseries of "dusters" damaging to crops was feared. Wheat closed firm at the same as Friday's finish to higher, May 99M-, corn - down. May 60-. oats off.and provisions varying from 5 cents decline to an equal gain. Enlarged receipts of corn had a bearish effect on corn and oats markets. Onion Shipping to Be Resumed Soon PORTLAND, Feb. 24--Fur-ther advance of lc for extra and c lb. for standard cube butter took effect in the local trade for the week's opening as a result of a holiday-session boost on the produce exchange. Butterfat was boosted lc lb. Better prices were announced for eggs by some operators with np to 21c dozen offered for extras and 19c for standard with cases returned. Condition of the cheese trade appeared a trifle erratic, but pric es were still on a nominal basis. The acute shortage of light leg horn hens resulted in a new re cord high mark of 16c lb., which appeared out of line with 14c for medium hens and 17c for heavy weights. . Strong prices continued in the market for corntry killed meats, especially for veal. Sales of these , were up to 15',2C lb. Hogs were steady around 15-15.c lb. gener ally with lambs held 16-17c lb. Prices were sharply lower in the market for new Florida pota toes, the result of three cars ar riving all in a bunch. Fete Medium Sized Lots Of Territory Wool Sold BOSTON. Feb. 24.-(P)-t tT- S. Dept. Agr.) Sales were closed on a. few medium sized lots of 64s and finer -territory wools in ori ginal bags. Bulk aerae French combing staple brought around 90 cents scoured basis.
