DeSOTO-PLYMOUTH Phone 7708 880 Marlon Gladiolus Thrips Remedy Is Given Naptbalene Flakes Held Best Treatment For Diseased Bulbs j The state department of agri culture has issued the following instructions to gladiolus growers for treatment of bulbs for gladi olus thrips: (1) Napthalene flakes. This remedy is cheap and effective and is! safe both to user and the corns. The flakes Bhould be used at the rate of one ounce (four level tablespoonfuls) for every 100 cornxs, or one pound to 2,000 corms. I Small lots of bulbs mey Je placed in paper bags or cartons. Sprinkle the lakes over the corms, close the top of the con tainer so as to retain the fumes. F6r large lots place the corms in trays, scatter the flakes over them, stack trays and cover with a j canvas or paper. Do not put edrms in tin cans or other air tight! containers as the corms are likely to "sweat" and sprout. Be fore applying the treatment allow the conn to cure sufficiently so that j they may be thoroughly cleaned. Burn all tops and trash. j The length of time for this treatment is not less than four wjeefcs, preferably eight weeks. Will kill all forms of the thrip. Dissolve in hot water then dilute. Use wooden, glass or earthenware vessels. POISON. ! (3) Semesan.
