He was born at Franklin, Wis., Octo ber 30, '1874, and was the young est of eight children After", com pleting achool at TranklJn he en tered ; the;- Mission House' college where be studied three years. He then entered Lawrence university at Appleton and later .changed to I Rlpon college. In. 1900 he became I bbokkeeoer in the First National .bank In Goodhue, Wis., remaining there until 1919 when- he, came west. In 1911 he entered-the em ploy of the Oregon Packing com- pany, here, being employed for 20 year with .this f inn, five years as foreman and 15 years as fruit buyer. He married GJertine B Dy berik of Silverton In 1919. His death occurred at his home here. He is survived'by his widow, his aister,' Mrs. H.r S. Bosshard, and two brothers,- Otto L. Arpke and Carl S.
