Arpke Life Sketched A brief
sketch of the life of the latejlleh
ard Calvin Arpke wis submitted
by his friends here yesterday. He
was born at Franklin, Wis., Octo
ber 30, '1874, and was the young
est of eight children After", com
pleting achool at TranklJn he en
tered ; the;- Mission House' college
where be studied three years. He
then entered Lawrence university
at Appleton and later .changed to
I Rlpon college. In. 1900 he became
I bbokkeeoer in the First National
.bank In Goodhue, Wis., remaining
there until 1919 when- he, came
west. In 1911 he entered-the em
ploy of the Oregon Packing com-
pany, here, being employed for 20
year with .this f inn, five years as
foreman and 15 years as fruit
buyer. He married GJertine B Dy
berik of Silverton In 1919. His
death occurred at his home here.
He is survived'by his widow, his
aister,' Mrs. H.r S. Bosshard, and
two brothers,- Otto L. Arpke and
Carl S. Arpke of Salem. Mr.-'-Arp-
ke was a charter member, of the
Araerlcan.Lutheran church -of this
city; member of Pacific lodge No.
