Numerous traders in corn took' the position that ultimately com. almost everywhere will sell well above the price of wheat. Much notice was given to assertions that elevators In the vicinity of Hutchinson, Kansas, were paying 90 cents a bushel for No. 2 hard wheat and were asking $1 a bush el for corn on account of corn shortage. SHARE LIST MIXED NEW YORK, Nov. 14. -(-Demand for stocks was selective to day and the market as a whole yielded a little more of the ground won on last week's broad advance. In contrast with the mixed per formance of ttr share list, United States government and high-grads corporate bonds showed a firm tendency. Elsewhere along the final front, a disposition to mark time was evident. Leading commodities sag ged with stocks. Trading in shares remained fair ly active in comparison with the pre-election stagnation In specu lative markets. Turnover totaled 958,460 shares against 1,131,330 yesterday. With more gold flowing toward the United States from Europe, political developments in the gold bloc countries were followed close ly in Wall street on the possibil ity they might lead to fresh mone tary disturbances. Apprehension on that score, however, was offset in a measure by further indications of a better domestic business trend and favor able dividend news. IS IT' SALEM HEIGHTS. Nov. 14. Plans are going forward for the annual turkey dinner, November 20, sponsored by the Woman's club. The proceeds are to be used for materials and equipment to be used in the SERA project now under way at the Heights. The school grounds are being lev eled, the approach to the Com munity hall cut down and leveled and a new roof put on the hall and new rest rooms built. If enough money is available. new gravel paths will be made from Giles corner to Wiggins school, making it safer for the children who have to come to school on the highway. It is felt that if enough money can be made in the community in the nle x t few months, a new play shea for the school children can be start ed. This construction has been the incentive for the women who are giving the turkey dinner, Novem ber 20. Those serving as chair men of the various committees are: Joint general chairman, Mrs. Clive Bartlett and Mrs. Daryl Washburn; kitchen, Mrs. Carrie Trudgeon; salad, Mrs. Chas. law yer; dessert, Mrs. Fred Burger; dining room, Mrs. Reed Chamb ers.
