Threshine Under Way One of the first threshing Jobs In the Scio area was started at the Joe Roner farm a few miles southeast of the city on July 6. John Roner, near West Scio. also threshed some grain this week. This is the earliest threshing here for several years, farmers assert. O. J. Myers of the Mt. Pleasant section is reported recovering from a peavy wound in his foot, sustained while working with timber. The condition of Fred Stamper, who has been in a hos pital in Albany for some time, is reported not entirely satisfactory. H i under treatment for an af fection of the back, said to Lave been the result of work at a saw mill near Scio. Local option petitions were cir culated in Scio and vicinity a short time ago and were quite - liberally signed. Mr. and Mrs. Whitwell of Los Aneeles are expected in Scio this week as guests of the families of Rev. Victor Loucks and Rev. E. W. Ralston. Mr. Whitwell ia dean of men at the Bible Institute at Los ' AiLEelea and Mr. Loucks and Mr "Ralston were his students some years ao. The Calvary Four, to ealists. who sane in Scio last year. are expected here August 3 this year, at the Baptist church. Frank Krosman suffered pain ful lacerations on the forehead in a recent accident. Ed Egr, of the Jordan Lumber company, fell at a mill at West Scio, bruising and cutting his head and face in such manner as to require several stitches in treating the wounds r W : .' Coyotes Get Eight . Young Turkeys at H. Peters Farm Jones Clan Votes to Hold 1935 Meet at Historic Park UNION HILL, July 12. Coy otes are getting very numerous in this vicinity. Last Sunday morn ing eight young turkeys belong ing to Henry Peters were killed. Other times the coyotes have kill ed sheep for George Scott, Hugh Hurt and goats for John Rabens. Mr. and Mrs. William Perry have Just returned from a wed ding trip to Crater lake. Mrs. Perry was formerly Miss Rose Harris. Mr. Perry owns a saw mill near Mehama and they will make aH home there in the near fu ture. At present they are staying t the home of Mrs. Perry's mo . ther, Mrs. Ida Henry.
