Elections ' 8ILVERTON, Jan. . 11. . The Christian church has figured oat a anlque and most Interesting manner of handling the financial end of the ehorch work daring timet of depression. The official hoard of the church has adopted the plan and it is being brought before the congregation for three consecutive Sundays. Little doubt was expressed of Its ultimate adoption. . Dr. and .Mrs. W. O. Livingstone, both of whom are pastors, will re ceive about $30 in cash a month. The parsonage Is furnished by the congregation and all members Who cannot pay cash and have other means of adding to the con tributions will be given credit for these. In this fuel, foodstuffs, and In some cases gasoline will be fur nished for the use of the pastors. Oscar Loe and Conrad Johnson; ushers, Conrad Thorkildson, Or rtn Sererson, S. Jorgenson and Oscar Olsen. At Trinity church Rev. Foss report showed a confirmed mem bership of 318. Three families were admitted to membership at j the Wednesday night meeting, those of Amos Corhouse, Harry Sannerud and Olat Hagen, the lat ter of Scio. The budget commit tee's report giren by J. J. Moe showed the new budget for locil expenses at $2224.64. Last year's disbursements were shown at $3154.29. Elections at Trinity church con sisted of: Recording secretary, Hans Jensen; financial secretary, M. O. Hatteberg, with Arthur Got tenberg as assistant; treasurer, Dr. H. E. Johnson; auditors, M. O. Gunderson and L. M. Larson; Sunday school superintendent, L. H. Meyer; organist, Peggy Gop lerud; head usher, Harry Larson; assistants, Dr Johnson, John An derson. Oscar Setrum, Harold Larson and Otto Legard; ceme tery board, L. M. Larson; ' board of trustees, Oscar Saterm and Joha Doerfler. to fill the places of the retiring members, Samuel Tory- end and Joha J. Moe. IKS; 4 . .? Women Aid Relief Job By Benefit DALLAS, Jan. It Plans are being completed by a committee from the Dallas Woman's club for an all community benefit perform ance to be held at the Majestic theatre, January 31. Mrs. Erie Fulgham is chairman of the com mittee and is being assisted by Mrs. E. W. Cruson, Mrs. A. R. Hartman and Mrs. R. T. Morrison, president of the club. Various organizations of the city will participate In the bene fit, and will put on the different numbers. The Legion auxiliary are planning a comedy act, the firemen a blackface skit, the Neighbors of the Woodcraft a one act play, and the Delphian society will present the two, lirlng pic tures presented by them at the assembly held In Salem. Inter spersed with these acts will be tap dancing numbers, a tumbling act. music by the high school orches tra and other special features. The performance will be held both in the afternoon and even- ing, admission for the afternoon to be either canned or packages of food which will be turned oyer to the Red Cross for distribution. The evening will be the usual cash admission usually charged by the theatre management. Q e o r g e Gould, manager, Is donating the use of the theater and senrices of the staff for the two performances which it is believed will raise a nice sum of supplies snd money for the local relief work. Elixabeitt McKay, St, died at Thar home of her daughter; Mrs. Hester Cruae here, January : She wa horn near London, EnglandrDecember 25, 1812. and left with her par ents when young for Georgetown, Ontario. -' - In 1878 she was united In mar riage to Phillip McKay and moved -to Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, where she lived for 1$ years. In 1891 she and her family came to Turner where she Ured oa a-tana west of town for SI years, after which; she moTed oa account of 111 health to the home of' her daughter in Turner. Her husband died In 1885, a son la 1920 and a daughter In 1911. '. She was a 'mouther of the Pres byterlana church, the Eastern Star, and also of Surprise grange for 40 years. ; :. Many of the members were present. A report was giTen of the diocese meeting. which was held in Portland some time ago. Also new members were discussed. Rer. Father Francis Scherbring motored to Portland Tuesday to attend the funeral of Rer. Father Markham, which was held at the Cathedral. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Zuber are the parents of an eight-pound boy born early Monday morning at the Stayton hospital. Mrs. Peter Burghart returned to her home west of Sublimity Monday, after spending a few days with her daughter, Mrs. Mary Desch in Portland.
