Todd Butt of Vinton, Pa. cousins of Mrs. J. E. Douglas of Piedmont, avenue, were house guests at the Douglas home last wee. The brother and sister had received word of the illness of a brother. Clarence Butt of New- berg, and had started to Oregon, and the brother died while they were on the way, so they attend ed his funeral, and while out here paid a visit to the Salem cousins. A good sized crowd attended the fine illustrated lecture giv en at the Ford Memorial church Saturday night. Rev. Ira E. Gll- let, who is a missionary from Portuguese East Africa, home on ruriough, was the speaker. He showed moving pictures, slides and a variety of interesting cu rios. Attends ririrh Wedding Lottie McAdams attended the wedding of her cousin, Miss Max- ine Nye Ulrich of Salem to Stearns Cushing, which was sol emnized at the Leslie M. E. church on Sunday and the recep tion at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Ulrich following. karle Jensen will leave this week for Oakland, Calif., to get his mother, Mrs. Anna Jen sen, who has been visiting there for a month and bring her back home with him. Mrs. Jensen has been the house guest of a daugh ter at Oakland. The Cleary-Hillman Packing company, are working from 12 to-15 hours daily with a crew of workers numbering about 65 to complete their prune pack for this season. The quality of the pack this year is Unusually fine. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Casebeer of Salem moved the first of the week into a residence on 1545 Franklin street. Mrs. Casebeer is a daughter of Mrs. Garnet Smith of Edgewater, and has been a resident of West Salem before, for a number of years. Moore and Son Hnnt F. Marian Moore and his son. Claude of West Salem, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Emory and two sons of the Turner road have all gone to Grant county, on a hunting trip. They went there last year, near to the old Moore home stead at Tamarack Mountain near Sprague, and enjoyed the trip so much that they decided to repeat it. Mr. Moore is 74 years old and still enjoys a hunt for big game. Complimenting the birthday anniversary of her husband, Al. C. Henningsen, Mrs. Henningsen will give a dinner party at their home on Tuesday evening. Sent 20.
