The DailaH Chamber of Commerce j voted $5.00 at its meeting Wed-, nesday noon, to be contributed to the State Highway Commission'' Uai tie Rock Fund. This fund is for the purpose of purchasing land adjacent to i Dattle Rock at Port Orford in ! Curry county and which was the scene of one of the early day In- ; dian battles. It is proposed to j erect a statue of the former pres- ldent, Theodore Roosevelt on the ; rock, the holdings to be turned , into a state pi'rk under direction j of the state highway commission. I The directors decided to hold ! the annual meeting of the cham ber of commerce on the evening j of January 8, in the form of a j dinner, at which time the annual : reports will be given, and the vote for new directors will be can- j vassed. These votes are by mall, : each member voting for the 11 men he thinks should be on the board of directors, and the 11 receiving the highest vote are elected, and from that number the 1 officers are elected.
