They were married in Salem in March 1921. The case was hoard before Judge L. H. McMahan. Birth Is Announced Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Mist re ceived a cablegram yesterday an nouncing the birth of a seven pound boy to Lieut, and Mrs. Cecil Mist, Fort Davis, Panama. Lieut. Mist is a graduate of the Salem high school class of 1918. Divorce Is Granted Charging cruel and inhuman treatment. Agness Burr was granted a divorce from C. F. Burr in the circuit court here yesterday. They were married In June 191 C in Jacksonville. The case was heard before Circuit Judge L. II. McMahan. Kellcy Resigns C. C. Kelley, at one time as sistant state highway engineer but more recently in charge of the Obituary Buckbee Phoebe Catherine Buckbee died at a local hospital December 27 at the age of 68 years. She is survived by two sons, Charles of Beaver, Oregon, and William of Garibaldi, and by five grand children and two great-grandchildren. McBrlde, chief Jus tice of the Oregon state supreme court, has returned to Salem af ter spending Christmas with rel atives in Washington county. Must List Army Cars Officers of the United States army stationed in the state of Ore gon must register their motor ve hicles and pay the annual license fees the same as any other citi zen, according to a legal opinion prepared by - the attorney gene ral. The" opinion was" requested by the secretary of state. Auditors Confer Auditors employed by the state industrial accident commission in various sections of the state gath ered here Monday for their an nual conference. A large num ber of matters incident to the ad ministration of the workmen's compensation act was scheduled for discussion. The conference will continue until tonight. Ap proximately 20 auditors employed by the commission were in at tendance at today's sessions of the conference. Rodney .Manes Recovering Rodney Mapes, the 7-year-old boy who was hit by an automobile driven by Carroll Kiser early Saturday evening, is doing nicely at the hospital. He was crossing the street with his mother and two sisters and.' It Is claimed, was not playing with tho toy. Accord ing to reports, the boy was cross ing from the east to the west when tho car approached from the north. The boy was knocked down and his arm broken. The accident occurred at about C:30 o'clock Itt the evening. The boy was removed to the hospital.' There were 83 men to register for jobs, but only 28 calls for help were re ceived. 'Men were referred and placed for each Job offered. Twenty-one women sought em ployment .through the bureau. Members of the Oregon commis sion indicated that they would not comply with the request. Firecrackers Allowed For anybody who , . wants : to shoot firecrackers to celebrate the new year, will be absolutely permissable, as Mayor Giesy said yesterday that it would be allowed on that occasion. Blank cartridges may be used in guns, but bullets are barred. Pole Catches Fire Sunday afternoon a pole that caught fire; on account of a brok en insulator, caused tho F. E. P. company 10 snut -on power on their lines somewhere between Salem and Silverton. Due to the new line that has been installed recently via Newbreg, Salem and vicinity got power, this line being used entirely while repairs were Delng made. Silverton got their current from a plant that 3s situ ated about two miles west of that city, and which is only used in emergencies.
