Rodney .Manes Recovering
Rodney Mapes, the 7-year-old
boy who was hit by an automobile
driven by Carroll Kiser early
Saturday evening, is doing nicely
at the hospital. He was crossing
the street with his mother and
two sisters and.' It Is claimed, was
not playing with tho toy. Accord
ing to reports, the boy was cross
ing from the east to the west
when tho car approached from
the north. The boy was knocked
down and his arm broken. The
accident occurred at about C:30
o'clock Itt the evening. The boy
was removed to the hospital.'

Pole Catches Fire
Sunday afternoon a pole that
caught fire; on account of a brok
en insulator, caused tho F. E. P.

their lines somewhere between
Salem and Silverton. Due to the
new line that has been installed
recently via Newbreg, Salem and
vicinity got power, this line being
used entirely while repairs were
Delng made. Silverton got their
current from a plant that 3s situ
ated about two miles west of that
city, and which is only used in
emergencies.
