When this versatile star brought "The Hunchback of Xotre Dame" through the gamut of critical scrutiny to the itreatest success ever achieved by a screen produc tion of its kind hs was acclaimed as the greatest of character in terpreters in the profession, but it was predicted that he had set a pace for himself that be could never again equal. That the critics were in error in the predictions has been estab lished by their own uastlnted; praise of his latest endeavor They now aeciare "The Phantom of the Opera" to be an even ' mtw achievement than was the "Hunch back of Notre Dame," and do so without qualifying their claims-.
