The question was brous&t up before the council as to whe ther the assessment should be made to the alley or to the center Of the block. - It so happens that the street has two alleys. The council upheld the interpretation that the assessment should be made to the center of the block Alderman C. O. Engstrom re ported that the committee on building had investigated the mat ter of finding rooms for the Asso ciated Charities, and the only place he could find would cost $25 a month. .This was held to be" too high- and .the matter was referred to the committee for fur ther investigation. -The following petitions were re ferred to the committee on lights: Street lights at the intersections oi Marion and Twenty-second, Hunt and Madison, Winter and South for the erection of electric signs by the Western Auto Supply com pany and the Salvation Army.
