Y. ;The run- was undertaken by Gere ft "Willis. Studebaker dealers In Syracuse;, to demonstrate the merit of Studebaker light six cars for performance, endurance- and economy. , . J , .In . seven days' time," the light six delivered more than the ayer aae mileage for a whole year and did It so decisively that It Is caus ing wide comment among motor ists In that section of the coun try."' - ' - v .. ' . Patstanlng features of the long run were the fact that the highest I MMMMM m-m average for any : hour during the run was 48 miles; the highest speed. 6 7t miles an hour; the use of but "three gallons of water for the whole run and the further fact that no air was put into the tires during the entire seven days. The best , gasoline average for a six-hour period during the trip was 23 miles, and for the whole trip, .the average "was 18.1 miles to the gallon.; , Thirteen men took turn about driving and at all times an obser ver of the Syracuse 'Post-Standard accompanied the car. t Exclusive mechanical features of ithe' light six motor account largely for this remarkable record In! the opinion of Geo'; P. Griffith, of the Marlon Auto Co., local Stu debaker dealers.: i "For example," said he. "Stu debaker machines all surfaces of the chankshaft and connecting rods, of the light six engine instead of the usual practice of machining only the j bearing surfaces. This insures exact balance and uniform weight of reciprocating parts. - "Vibration is,' therefore, prac tically eliminated, a feature that is responsible in part, for unusual records of performance such as the run at Syracuse." In confer ence with Smith & Watkins Co local distributors for world fam ous carburetor. - i The carburetor is the heart of i .... the engine, in other words thn most vital piece of equipment on the automobile, but still It receives less care and attention than any other part on the car. Up until a few years ago carbur etor manufacturers " were J not building carburetors with as much skill and attention as they are to-day, aj KsjolinefCvias! plentiful and as long as a car would run. giving reasonable amount of power- and speed the car owner was satisfied: But it has been considerable dif ferent for the past tew years, for 2 main reasons. .-1st due to source of supply of gasoline. This is a mighty serious question before the carburetor manufacture today as the gasoline ; consumption : Is al most as groat as the production. 2nd, the price of gasoline, with the amount of driving the ordin ary car owner does today, is mighty expensive If he is not get ting all the efficiency that is pos sible for him to get. ' . f There are thousands of gallons of gasoline wasted daily In the United States, due to leaky car buretors. This trouble can easily be remedied, by a reliable carbur etor roan for a very small charge. The type of carburetor built to day is called a "Plain Tube" car buretor and that is one in - which all the moving parts are eliminat ed. But the gasoline Is mixed automatically without moving 1 sss " t . y .The Heat ;4U Family Car 1 i SUPERIOR 5-Pj3.
