Arnold Morgan, tenor, and Burton Arant. pianist, appeared in a concert in the normal chapel Wednesday eve ning and the standard set by pre vious numbers of the series of en tertainments for the year was well maintained by these musicians. Incidentally, a neat sum was real ized toward the purchase by the student body of the acre of ground pledged by them for the site of he Orphan's Horns near Corvallis. Mr. Morgan, who plans to per sue his musical studies In New York, has a remarkable tenor voice of true dramatic quality. and a brilliant career is predicted for him. His careful training, his musical Intelligence, and his ar tis'ic ability were apparent in the rendition of every one of the var ied songs of the program. Wheth er in' the delicate, exquisite shad ings and legato movement charac teristic of "Dnna" (McGill) In th- first group, or in the dramatic re quirements of the thrilling "Lor raine. Lorree." Mr. Morgan mas fully equal to the demands of both, and ot every intervening character of rhythm and expres sion. It was an interesting pro gram of modern songs, and every number met with enthusiastic fa vor.- Tne rule or me evening was to omit encores, but several of the songs had to be repeated and only at the end. when the audi ence refused to leave their seats. did the singer respond with an extra number. Mr.' Arant came In for his share of honors on his own composition "My Love is Like a Red. Red Rose," but modestly failed to rec ognize the nusual applause. . His accompaniments throughout wero played with sympathy and under standing and were a decided con tributlon to the Inspiration of Mr. Morgan's singing, and his solo numbers were rendered with mas terly percislon and artistry. His numbers were well selected, and In addition to these, he graciously responded to an encore with a pleasing rendition ot "Two Larks" (Leschetizky).
