In talking with the secretary he stated that when hM boy was enroute to France his s'llp was submarined and the boy was hurled into the sea. So far as he was able to discover the boy remain ed ia the icy water for at least 15 minutes before he was rescued. He had learned to swim in the Y.M.C.A. pool and had become an expert so that when the crisis came the bov was ready for it.
