The king of Belgium can pilot an airplane' and run a railway locomo- tlTe. Do you believe In plaionic friend- ships?r Perhaps not. but after you have seen "Tea for Threef the new triangular comedy written- by Rol Cooper M?grne which is to be at the Grand Opera house on tonight, for one night only under the direct ion of the Set wyns. it's almost safe to say that if not absolutely con vinced of their existence, you'll at least grant that the author has made one seem very plausible and proba ble. It would not be fair to reveal the plot of "Tea for Three" and rob the auditor of the thrill and sus pense of its development. Mr.' Me- grue has. described his plaf as "an angle of the triangle" and still fur ther as, a "school for" wives," a les son for husbands' and an examp'e for lovers'. .This latter sounds like it 'might be a bit of moralization. That Is Just exactly, what "Tea for Three" Is not. Its main object is to amuse, yet there is a lesson in the tale. One that strikes home too. if the attitude of the audience may be taken as a criterion.. Stand in the back of a theatre during a perform ance of the comedy and if the house Is not too dark and you watch close ly you may see any number of wives nudging their husbands when a par ticularly telling bit of domestic phil osophy comes over the footlights. Many a conjugal little tangle has been straightened out on the way home from the theatre by the appli ration of some of the "advice of married .people" contained, in the play, combined with, a sense of hu mor. - There are three acts and a pro logue" with as many effective chang es of setting. Norman Hackett in the leading role is excellent. This is by far the best role Mr. .llackett has ever appeared in and he is equal to every emergency of the long and difficult part.
