PORTLAND; OREGON. wb prominent d (Lnurcli Workers to "i'avelfbv.l(ew-::iiielcls 'of iabor JjSortlan EASTLOOKSVEST TO FILL PULPITS The ; Base dab turned to the West for, Its "bis" preachers. Ia common with other Paelfie coast cities, Port-i land clergymen are being tempted to leave their present pastorates for larer-q er .opportunities east of the Rocky mountain. r The East has tired of the flow of oratory on evolutionary subjects which has been emlnatlng- from theoretically orthodox pulpits daring- recent years, ' according- to reports which have reached here from various sources, and has turned its eves westward for men who are known to preach "the good old-fashioned gospel." . Portland is losing two of her most prominent workers tomorrow to large Eastern churches.: Dr. Norman Kendall Tuny, associate pastor of the First Presbyterian church, Is leaving to be- come pastor of the First Presbyterian church of Racine, Wls and Dr. George H. Young, director of religious edu cation for the Oregon 8 tale Baptist convention. Is leaving to become pastor of the great First Baptist church at Hamilton. Ohio. SB. TTJXIiT TO PBEACH .Dr, Tally will occupy the pulpit at ' both services tomorrow in the First Presbyterian church, preaching in. the . morning from the theme, "The Un known Tomorrow. and at night on "What Think Te of the Cross?" Dr. Tully and his family will take the 11:15 p. m. train over the Chicago, Milwaukee ft St. Paul railroad for their new home, arriving there In time to " take part in next Sunday's services. Dr. Toung wilt not preach tomorrow, . but will lead the young people's meet ing at the East Side Baptist church at ' 1:30 p. m. He will take the night train . over the Union Pacific, stopping off at Ontario, Or., to conduct a rally for the young people of Eastern Oregon and Southern Idaho. He expects to oc cupy his pulpit on January 7. Dr, Young's family will remain In Portland to perimt his children to finish the present school term in Portland schools. t ----- TWO, OTHERS, RE8IGIC : Dr. J. Francis Morgan, pastor of " Piedmont Presbyterian church, and the ' Rev. John D. Mclennon, pastor of Trinity Presbyteria church, also have resigned their pulpits and expect to preach their farewell sermons Sunday. . Dr. Morgan's health has been poorly ' for about two months and recently while in the East je underwent an operation to his face from ' which he has not fully recovered. He will prob ably'remaln In the West for some time, but la not certain, as yet Just where he will take up work. On January 7 he will preach at the Clatskanie Pres- byterlan church, where the Rev. R.
