Canton. China, Oct. 21. "The Sunrise Ben" Is located in the. heart of Can ton's "newspaper row" -in the center of the old city where the streets, only 12 feet wide, are faced by solid rows of brick and stone buildings. The two hotels, which were bombed in the explosions of Thursday night, were the Asia and 'Great "Western, largest establishment of their kind in China, and both located on the Broad bund or thoroughfare which faces the PesrV river. The Victory restaurant, where four persons were wounded, and the Bast Gate theatre, where, two girls were wounded, also are located on the same bund. r ' " The Asia hotel." where one of the ex plosions Occurred, ia owned by the Dai Sun company, a corporation which is operating a department store, restau rant, theatres i and roof garden, all in the same building as the hotel. m The explosion in the hotel was of such" terrific force that the reinforced concrete building of the Dai Sun com pany, which 16 the tallest in China,, vibrated from - top to bottom. Hun dreds of customers who were in the place at the timeof the bombing, to gether with diners Jn ' a restaurant on ths' sixth floor and-patrons of a the atre on the tenth floors, were over come with panic and rushed .for the stairs and elevators in a mad effort to escape from the building. They were stopped in their flight by iron gratings at the entrance to the build ing, which wereslammed shut intheir faces. Two plainly dressed women, one of them carrying a rattan suitcase, registered at the hotel Thursday after noon, and after paying in advance were assigned tot an expensive rojh on the fourth floor, near, suites occupied by a Chinese general and a coloiiel. After ordering tea. the " wo men left the hotel, leaving behind them the suitcase containing the bomb. The explosions increased the -unrest which has developed in Canton as a result of the recent capture of Fou chow, capital of Fukien province, by forces of Dr. Sun Yat-Sen. Brother and Sister, Each Thought Dead 25 Years, United (By Universal Service) Pans, 111., Oct. 21. Mrs. David Thomas and her brother, J. . Guyer, of Woodburn, Or., were reunited today after each had believed the ether dead for : 25 years. Guyer arrived here for a visit with his sister. " Potato Men Asked To Make Exhibits Vancouver, "Wash., Oct. 21. An ef fort is being made-to obtain an' ex hibit of (flarke county potatoes, for the Western Washington potato show to be held in connection with j the second annual Northwest Fruit exposition at the Bell street " terminal tin Seattle November 11 to 19. J. E. Larson, who was manager of the potato grow ers', branch of the Washington Grow ers, Pajpking corporation here last year, is ;n the potato show committee and is working to get an exhibit from thiseounty. Clarke is one of the lead ing; potato producing: counties of the state and a large producer of certified aeed potatoes. Efforts to get an ex hibit are not confined to the potato growers' association. The exhibit must reach Seattle not later than Novem ber 3. KILLS 2 PERSONS Lost Logger Found; Wandered 10 Days Vancouver, Wash.. Oct. 21. A logger named Glasety, whose first fname has not been learned, wandered for 10 days in the woods on Turn Turn moun tain, without food, except a few btrC Ties. lie was, found exhausted by Arthur Austin of Chelatchie val ley. Glasety. who came from Port land, secured ia job with the Clarke County Timber company .and was sent to camp No. 10. 13 miles from Tacolt. At the close of the first day's work , he started for camp but missed the trail. Although weak from lack of food and badly scratched by under brush. Glasety will suffer no injury from his experience.- Pasco-Kennewick Bridge Dedicated us , i Pasco, Wash, Oct. 21. -Pasco is thronged today with visitors from all parts of the Northwest, here for the dedication this afternoon of the new Pasco-Kennewick bridge across the Co lumbia river. Meagher, charged with , being a Jintlst, was found guilty by a jury tn superior court Friday afternoon. U1 J. Thomas, tried with Meagher on a similar charge, was .acquitted. Tboraa was employed by Meagher in his soft drink place at No. 04 Wash ington atreet. Meagher was arrested last May and has been out on bond. The crime of "jointist" is a felony in this state punishable by from one to five years in the penitentiary. Judge Simpson fixed the bond of Meagher at $2500. Us will come up for sen tence later.
