Only a flat of trap-, plica t the last minute will force values below tha half dollar mark to consumer. With the taina stalled by the atorm and practically no arrivals Available at tha moment for the market, there la na turally mor or less talk of advanced prices to come. Cortaumera who must have a turkey cannot do otherwise than pay the prioe demanded. Some havt expressed them selves as deciding to go direct to the country and purchas there. It has been found that this' means no savins; what ever. If you really want to beat the turkey market, buy a chicken.. At this time chickens are really low priced and quaW Ity compared they are, in far better shape than turkeys. Be sure when buying cranberries to secure the local stock. It is not onlj. of bKter quality than the eastern, uses less eurar but cost considerably lees. Consumers should not forgret that the war forced them to use substitutes, some of which they are still using and which cost them more money, for instance lard Is today selling In the downtown markets as low as 15 cents a pound and even In nelKhborins; markets not above 20 cents a pound. The -better class sub stitutes cost 25 cents a pound or more therefore consumers can save money by apain buying the original.
