MONDAY, FEBRUARY E STEAMER MAKES FIRST PORT CALL First of the Williams line -steamships in the coast-to-coast service to enter at the Port of Portland was the steamship Willfarao, 3347 net tons., A. C. Callan la acting; as local agent and to the : Standifer Ship building corporation tf Vancouver, Wash., Is a consignment of si Scotch marine boilers. - For Portland there is a quantity of Ca steel and fittings. The Willfarao will load part cargo out from Portland for the Atlantic side. Customs business was heavy today with the manifests of the motorshlD 81am, Bteamship Lehigh and Walter A. Luckenbach, The yiam came in from Vancouver, 15. C.. and had on a part cargo of grain for Kerr, Gifford & Co. -At Portland she will take' on an addi tional 2000 tons and will clear for the Lnlted Kingdom for orders. In the service of the North - Atlantic & Western Steamship company. Pacific Steamship ctmpany coast agents, the steamship Lehigh came in with 280 tons of general cargo. The Lehigh came from Philadelphia and way and will clear out for the Atlantic side,- The Walter A. Luckenbach of the Luckenbach line and General Steamship company got away for New Tork with 400.000 feet of ties and a few hundred tons of general cargo. In the general eargo is-a fchipment of 480 cases of cassia bark transshipped from the Ori ent. The steamship Steelmaker of the Isth mian line, in the intercoastal service. is in the river and will deliver -and take on general cargo. Washington's birthday will be gener ally observed on the waterfront, and both foreign and American vessels will observe the day. .: New Tanker Departs Vancouver, Wash.. Feb. 21. The oil tanker Livingstone. Roe, built by the G. M. K tan difer Construction corporation for the Standard Oil Company of New Jersey, left Saturday evening for San Francisco to take on the first cargo of oil. It is expected that the boat wilt go to Baton Rouge, L on her first trip. Willfaro this morning. Captain Porter was master stevedore on the Ainsworth dock after the Germans took over the ran. This is his first visit to Portland for more than five years. .-- The steamship Curacao of the coast ing service 01 tne Admiral lino is aue to arrive up this afternoon from San Francisco via Eureka and Coos Jb?ay. The steamship West Haven of .the At lantic, Gulf & Pacific line is due to ar rive at Portland the first, week in March. Hhe will bring 2000 tons of sulphur from Gulf port in addition to general rareo from the Atlantic side. She will, discharge at 'terminal No. 4.- The steamer ueorgiana or the Mar klna fleet will be ready for service by March 1 and-will be placed in commis sion within a short time thereafter.
