ELECT DELEGATE TO FILL VACANCY The Democratic state central com mittee will have a full schedule When It meets Saturday .afternoon at 2 o'clock in the auditorium of The Journal building- pursuant to tne can of Chairman C J. Smith. I In the first place, tt will have to elect a new state cnairmn,,r secretary, treas urer and what other officers and . coun sellors it may deem necessary, i Next, it will sleet a delegate at largre to 'the national convention to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Judge George T. Baldwin of Klamath Falls. The next step will be to select four alternate del egates at large. 'p.jv: Also, it will elect a national commit teeman. Dr. J. W. Morrow, who is a candidate to succeed himself for that position, ?was eiectea oy me present state central committee to fill a vacancy Caused by the removal of Will Homl brook from the state and his subsequent resignation. . Hornibrook was elected by the voters to serve until 1922, and the election of Saturday- will fill the remain der of the term. So far as reported. there are no candidates, other than Dr, Morrow, for the position. i It is expected that there win be more han ordinary interest manifested In the election of the delegate at large to fill the Baldwin, vacancy. . John L. Schuyle- man was the fifth high man in the re cent primaries among the candidates for delegate at large, and is contending that this entitles him to election by the state central committee, There is a good deal of opposition to his selection, towever, though whether Mils will ma terialise in sufficient strength to bring about the election of some other per son is not certain. It is understood that Shuyleman Intends to appear before the committee in person in support of his demand for election. ! 30 Are Admitted to Citizenship; 15 Aire Veterans of War Thirty persons. 15 of them soldiers. were made citizens of the United States Thursday by Federal Judge Charles "Wolverton. Seven more persons' had previously declared their intention of becoming citizens, but failed to appear in - the courtroom. A few more asked the court to grant them one or 'two more months In' which to study the English language. Their requests were granted. Examination of the candidates ) occu pied , the greater portion of the; day. The ex-soldiers admitted to citizenship are: Fernando Lopes da Costa, Tomasso dl Fabblo. Carl Benson, Gust Med Mad is Follas, Enrico Martini. Costa George Pariza. John Te Meo, John AlliSe Strong, Andrew Heeb Jr, ' Norman Ed ward Potter, Harry Edmund Parsons, Sidney Robert Payne, Edward Verburg, Slgfred Jensen and Marcel Brisson. Mrs. Billup was sick herself when the body reached Portland, and though complete custody had been given her by the, court after her divorce from George A. Hail in 1904. she was forced to let her divorced husband re ceive the body and give it burial. , An -understanding" had been reached, however, according, to ? the complaint, that the deed for the cemetery lot should be transferred to Mrs. Billup. or else she should be free to remove the. body.
