Tne Journal 48 Stolen Antot Recovered The 'auto theft department of the bureau of police .recovered 40 of 44 automobiles reported ctolen during May, according to a report filed with Chief of Police , Jenkins by Lieutenant Harvey Thatcher. Nine ma chines stolen outside of Portland have been recovered by. the department, says the report. During- May. 1919, the' report shows that 97 automobiles were stolen. Dry Law Violator Fined Two vio lators of the federal prohibition law, William . Gorman of Portland and Ray Jones of Waconda, pleaded guilty be fore ' Federal, Judge Bean Saturday and were fined $150 and $100 respectively, federal agents found six pints of moon shine in Gorman's pocket. They report that he . was about to make a sale at the time of arrest About 16 gallons of grape mash and a small 'quantity o'f wine were found at Jones' home in Ma rlon county. Both men had previously been held to the federal grand jury. , Jefferson High Issues Annual The Spectrum, the annual class publication of the graduating class at Jefferson high school, made Its appearance Saturday. The annual contains 175 pages and is especially good in-, character. Two Patrolmen Promoted Promotion Of Patrolmen William A. Barker and Charles A. Cason to sergeants was an nounced Saturday by Chief of Police Jenkins.' The maps are printed in colors and show all the roads and trails within he parks, hotels and camps, free public camp grounds and other information.
