De Valera Retail Clothiers of New York Viewing Overalls Seriously By United Prp New York. April 21 Tlie New York State AsBocistlon of Retail Clothiers and Furnishers has decided to take this overall craze very seriously instead Of scoffing; at it, as the associated dress , Industries did, in calling; it "absurd." Ijawrence T- Boesen, secretary of the State organization, last night Baid the great publicity given the overall and old clothes clubs throughout the country, probably will "slow up" buwlness by causing- men to postpone the buying of new suits until the old ones begin to fall to pieces. Boesen took a poke at the American 'Woolen company and the workers in the irreat clothing factories as the real cul I prlts In the, high price trouble. i "The American Woolen company Is getting ,a big slice of the profits," he said, "and the buying conditions they Impose as the biggest woolen firm In the business are adopted by their smaller competitors." Vlcksburg. Miss., April 21. (L N- 8.) Eamon De Valera, "president of the Irish repuUic," today save out this statement regarding the interview at tributed to Sir Auckland Geddes, the new British ambassador to the United States : "The new British ambassador's state ment that, in thU generation, there is no quarrel between England and ire-1 land.' is a splendid illustration of the impudent audacity of British statesmen ! when lying will serve their purpose. If there is no quarrel between Ireland and Kngland today, what is the meaning of the British army of occupation on Irish soil? With its daily arriving reinforce ments ; with its field artillery ; its tanks, its bombing planes ; that' poison and liquid. It requires two to make a quar rel. How naive ot trie British envoy to suggest that the robber who holds his victim's property at the pistol point is not a party to a quarrel." THRACIAN REBELS VILLAGES RAID EX-SERVICE MEN TELL STARTLING STORIES OF HOSPITAL TREATMEN T (By United Nwra) . Chicago, April 21. Stories of ex-soldiers regarding mistreatment received in Chicago public health service hospitals on their return from France startled lieutenant Colonel William S. Herri berry, conducting an investigation. Hyman Maryolis acquired a bunion in his travels with the 132d Infantry In France, lie testified. "I went to the general hospital here for treatment," he said. "The bunion was removed all right, but my foot never worked right again. The hospital authorities told me I was ready for dis charge. I said I wasn't and refused to sign my discharge papers. They took my clothes away from me and called a police ambulance s"nd I was taken to the station in my pajamas." The hospital officials denied the story and said Margolis' feet were all right, but he stayed In bed 60 days and refused to exercise them. Peter Kamar, another veteran, testi fied his appendix was removed without his permission. "I had to have a little operation." he Bald. "When I woke up they showed Die my appendix in a bottle. Nothing was the matter with It and 1 never told anybody to touch it." Constantinople, April 19. (De layed) (I. N. S.) New disorders have "broken out in Thrace.
