Charles P. Dennis. He suggests
tthat the substitution of fuel oil for
'coal would constitute a saving for

To improve Italian agriculture, he ad
vises the utilization of more fertilisers,
the rotation of crops and the eradlcatioa
of malaria, thereby obviating the ne
cessity of importing a large quantity of'
grain from the United States and other
growing countries the . coming year.

meat he thinks, but extensive fisheries
would demand the use of modern gaso
line trawlers and a system of refriger
ator 'Cars from the coast to the interior,
these things net now existing.

Mr. Dennis says that American capi
talists do not generally realise the bene
fit of investing money in Italian enter
prises, especially while the exchange
rate Is so low.
"Under the present rates ef exchange,"
he says, "the Investment of dollars In
Italian banking and navigation com
panies and in select industrial enterprises
such as textile concerns appears to offer
exceptional opportunities to Investors."
- Mr. Dennis expresses complete confi
dence in Italy's financial and economic
recovery. It is interesting to note in
this connection the rapid recovery of
Italian exports. These during the first
months of 119 were only one-fifth of
the Imports, whereas In October and
November, the last months for which
the figures are available, the exports
rose to half the imports. The chief ma
terials exported were cottons.

The financial response to the govern
ment loan Is good. The subscriptions
already amount to 10,000,000,000 lire
(normally $2,000,000,000). It is expected
that the - total subscription win teach

to cancel the floating debt and tho re
mainder to reduce tho paps currency,
which amounts roughly to 17,000.000,00

we cannot afford to ignore anything
that claims to improve the health of
oar children; and this is why Pictorial
