Miller, a Port land architect, and the general con tract is held by Frank X. LeDoux, a Portland builder. Construction work is new wei-under way, and it is proposed to open the building for school purposes in the autumn of 1930. The main entrance is 28 feet In width and beads through a logla to the main lobby, which has an interior height of two stories. On either side of, the lobby are admin istration offices and staircases, and stretching out to right and left are school rooms along an 11-foot corridor. On a main axis off the corridor and entrance lobby is the auditorium which forms the central feature of the struct ure. It is entered down a broad incline from the main corridor. On either side of the entrance corridor are class rooms arranged to be thrown open to the main auditorium by means of a series of fold ing doors and sliding partitions. Each is equipped with wardrobes, book closet and teacher's closet. There are seven exits from the lHuildlng and the courts between the au ditorium and the wings are 90 feet in width, providing ample safety from crowding In emergencies. Two broad stair cases lead to the second floor on which are located two large study rooms and the balcony over the auditorium. A lamp room eight by ten feet in size, located on this floor. Is capable of housing two movie machines and a stereoptican apparatus for lec tures and entertainment purposes. Construction will be of concrete foun dations, brick walls, brick and tile par titions, maple floors, red tile roof, stone trimmings, stone cornice. Steps and cor ridors will be of Terrazo concrete. The school will be available for all children of the community, regardless of religious affiliation. The building is centrally located, facing? St. Mary's church, and 'will be used as a civic center. " . Housing Shortage in Eoseburg Is Serious Roseburs;, Oct. 18. Shortage of houses is the most serious problem confronticg; the people of Roseburg. Many families have turned away from this city' and gone elsewhere to live because no houses could be found for them to live in. Building ceased almost entirely here during the war period, and the high cost of labor and material baa prevented a revival of construction work. Only -recently have investors become convinced that present price levels will prevail in definitely and many new houses are now being planned. Makinson Farm at Camp Creek Sold Springfield, Oct. 18.
