Erection of the building Is due In a
great measure to the untiring efforts of
Father Dominic, the priest in charge of
St. Mary's 'parish. Plans were pre
pared by Edward A. Miller, a Port
land architect, and the general con
tract is held by Frank X. LeDoux, a
Portland builder. Construction work is
new wei-under way, and it is proposed
to open the building for school purposes
in the autumn of 1930. "
Ground plans . call for ' an E-shaped
building , with a front 270 feet in width
and an. extreme depth of 165 feet;
wings at either end of the main structure
will have a depth of 102 feet. The main
entrance is 28 feet In width and beads
through a logla to the main lobby, which
has an interior height of two stories.
On either side of, the lobby are admin
istration offices and staircases, and
stretching out to right and left are
school rooms along an 11-foot corridor.
On a main axis off the corridor and
entrance lobby is the auditorium which
forms the central feature of the struct
ure. It is entered down a broad incline
from the main corridor. On either side
of the entrance corridor are class rooms
arranged to be thrown open to the main
auditorium by means of a series of fold
ing doors and sliding partitions.

Housing Shortage in
Eoseburg Is Serious
Roseburs;, Oct. 18. Shortage of houses
is the most serious problem confronticg;
the people of Roseburg. Many families
have turned away from this city' and
gone elsewhere to live because no houses
could be found for them to live in.
Building ceased almost entirely here
during the war period, and the high cost
of labor and material baa prevented a
revival of construction work. Only -recently
have investors become convinced
that present price levels will prevail in
definitely and many new houses are now
being planned.
