ST, The Portland Oun club will do Its bit for the Red Cross during- the prac tice day of. - the thirty-third annual trapshootlng tournament of the Sportsmen Association of the North west, to be held next Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, on Its traps at Kverdma park. One half cent on all targets thrown on Sunday will be turned over to the American Amhteur Trapshooters as sociation,, which, through patriotic tournaments being staged by every gun club in America, hopes to raise $60,000 for the purchase of a complete ambulance- unit, to be sent to France witlt the American troops, as a gift of the trapshooters of America The name of every contributor will be In scribed on a parchment roll and placed In the ambulances, and carried to the battle front. John Phillip Sousa Is - president of the American Amateur Trapshooters' association. Trapshooters from British Colum bia, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Utah, California and Oregon will par ticipate in this tourney. Kayburn High in. Practice Lou Rayburn of La Oranda, Or., former holder of the state trap shoot ing championship, was high gun In the midweek practice on the Everting park traps of the Portland Gun- club Wednesday afternoon. Rayburn cracked 94 out of 100 targets thrown for him. William A. Hlllls, one of the oldest' shooters In the state, scored 101 out of 125. Frank Templeton made a score of 117 out of 125. Play In the annual spring handicap tennis tournament of the Inrlngton Tennis club, scheduled to have been Itarted last Saturday afternoon, will open next Saturday. Corbett building. Word has been reoelved from Spo kane that the Spokane Central boys and girls' Junior tennis championship tourney for this season has been can celled. This will rob the Inland Em pire of representation in tennis in the northwest tourney, to be staged under the auspices of the northwest district of the United States National Lawn Tennis association. Seattle and Taeoma youngsters will vie with Portland boys for northwest titles and a chance to participate in the national tourney. Phil Neer and Paul Steffen of the Laurelhurst club were the winners of the boys' and Junior titles of the Portland central respectively.
