Skamania County Is Working on Road Grading- Craws Havs Hlfnway Bs twMa Prindl and Btsvanson Torn TJp mns Thoroux-nfar Whn Dons. Owing to construction work it Is in advisable to attempt to make the trip to Stevenson In Skamania county, Wash., by way of Vancouver and along the north bank of the Columbia river. The road from Vancouver to the Ska mania county line is in good condition, but beyond that there is a bad run going flown into Prindle and between Pi-indle and a point five miles this side of Stevenion the road is, badly cut up by grading crews. It is quite probable that it will be in this condition all this season. When the construction Is completed Skamania county will have a good highway, one that will supplement the Columbia river highway on the Oregon shore. It is being built on proper lines and in sijf-h a manner that it can be improved as the traffic demands. Besides making more accessible a large tract of undeveloped country it will have a valuable scenic character. This is of varied form and different from that on the Oregon shore, making a trip up one shore and down the other a continual delight. As a matter of fact one gets a bet'.'v view of the bluffs and waterfalls of the Oregon bank from the Washington side than from the Oregon side. Tho perspective is similar to that of a theatre. t la good. Astoria to Seaside. IS. 5 miles, paved. Portland to Astoria and Seaside (via Inland route! Best via Forest Grove and Timber, Kist. Veronia.
