Dixon late yesterday staggered across the finish line literally dragging hia dogs behind him and won the flftyfour mile dog race from Anchorage to Old Knik and return. San Francisco, Cal , Jan. 21. Walter Carlisle, who, for three seasons, was the leading run getter ln the Pacific Coaat league, has signed a contract to play with the Omaha Western league team. Carlisle started ln the P. C. L. with Loa Angeles, and then went to Vernon in 1909. He remained with the Tigers until last season, when Me Credie traded Walt Doane for him. Elliott an Oreeon pioneer of 1825,v died this city Friday, January 14, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Knepper, at the age of 68 years. He was born ln Kentucky. He was a well known school teacher.
