Navajo and Disport . in Plain Sight of the Peo ple on Board. v ' . - Thirty-five, foot sharks disporting .themselves in the path of tho Arrow Line steamer Navajo jaff Taqulna yea terday morning was, the unusual sight witnessed by those aboard the steamer, says Captain Miller.' The Navajo reached the'Albera dock at 6:30 this, morning after being' delayed 84 hours on the way up from San Francisco by a strong ': northwest gale. . Captain Wilier says that three, huge sharks, the largest that he has ever seen so ..far north, played about the steamer for some time yesterday morn ing, and he says that all indications showed they must be at least 85 feet long., The-captain says that It la very unusual to see such big fellows in the cold waters of the north Pacific and that there must have been something unusual to attract them. , For 60 hours after leaving the Gold- en Gate, until the Navajo was off Coos Bay, says Captain Miller, she bucked a strong northwest gale, which blew from 40 to 60 miles an hour all the way. The steamer was delayed somewhat in her arrlvflT by the blow. . Leggett was also due at noon with a full cargo of cement for Oak street - The Willamette river, which has been rising steadily: since April 14 at the rate of about 0.3 of a foot a day, is ex pected to fall slightly for a few days because of the recent cool weather.
