Try to Order Salmon. Jobbing Interests all over th country ara making great efforts to secure confirmation of orders for 1J11 canned salmon. Moat of the orders aire for fully double I tha amount used last season, and are subject to formal opening figures. ' If present Signs do not mislead, the opening of the 1911 packing season along the, Columbia river will 'show a great amount of fish available for, the tins. i There is an unususlly "Surly run of chinooks now showing' in the Columbls and this Is forcing heavier receipts in inerrcsh. rlsh markets . here. The cblnooks now oominip forward are of unusually . large etze and quality and fully up to the best thst has ever come from the river. ' Columbia river canners report that many Inquiries are being received from eastern as well as coast connections for larger supplies of. fish for the coming season than has ever before been or- dered. One cannery the Pillar Rock- has already received inquiry lor Wily twice as many caaea aa were canned during 1910 snd the regular season has not yet started. Alonr with tfce orders for chinooks is coming a big bunch of Inquiries regard ing the probable deliveries of eteelhesds. It has only been a few seasons that steelheads were put up by canners be cause all the fish of this variety was generally gpbbled up by cold storage op erators who shipped' the fish in ice to England, Germany and other parts of Europe. The past season there was J quits a liberal pack of. steelheads along me oiumuia ana at ail times tne de mand was better than supplies.
