A. educational department. The report says in part: ' . .; "The examination,! April 4-9, had nearly .8000 men from 103 association and X8, schools. Portland, Or., and Montreal were the largest participant. 7 AH bats off to the Paclflo northwest! The recent two-day gathering of general ecretariee and educational secretaries i of Portland, Tacoma, Seattle and , Spo kane resulted- In. a unity of conviction - concerning association educational work and plans, policies and detailed efforts , to cooperate, correlate and unify- this work throughout that section. Bide Business Men's club .yesterday afternoon ' the board of education Indorsed the school children's parade which will be Tield on the East Side during Rose Festlva week. - Mr. BIgelow told the. board that the business interests of the East Side would raise a subscription of 1300 and that this money would be turned in to stead of being paid to a drlllmaster. Physical Director Robert Krohn will cooperate -with the business men to make" the street procession of JuvenjUes a great success. He will give his ser vices in drilling the children for' the parade and in directing the parade. The board sltpulated before granting the requested indorsement, that the drills should all take place after school hours- and that the participation . of teachers and, pupils should not be made compulsory. This .was satisfactory,, to Mr. BIgelow, who said that. he. ex pected the volunteers this year for the big children's pageant would turn out In greater numbers than ever before. secretaries and teachers to be Christian leaders and the" department to function religiously. ; Each department to have some form of organised religious work. "X speak for myself, and, I think, for the rest dents of the Mount Tabor district, when I say that we are heartily in favor of naming the park after the 'Grand Old Man of Oregon.'- We have already been dlscifselng plans to erect a .monumen In honor of the late Judge Willama.'
