APPEAL CASE Prominent Stockman Denied New Trial in Federal Court 1 "William Hanley, convicted In the United Etatee court of bavin main tained an illegal fence on government land in Harney county, was denied a new trial by Judge Wolverton this morn intr. He is to be sentenced either this afternoon or tomorrow morning and ft is practically certain that the case will then be taken to the United State court of appeals. - - ' William Hanley; la one of the best known stock men In the central, part -of the state. He la well known also t as, a. politican in hi country, and dur ,,' ink the many years of his residence in Harney county and that vicinity has built up a big fortune. , Some time ago Hanley was , Indicted by the United States (rand Jury for having maintained an Illegal fence upon government land In Harney county. During the trial of the case n was shown to the Jury that Hanley main tained the fenoe and used the govern rnisnt forxthe purpose of ranging his stock. Upon the showing made during the trial, which was a very Jong and tedloua one. Hanley was convicted or having violated the law. " " .
