The train left yesterday and will arrive hers in time for delivery Monday morning. One reason for this big shipment of alfalfa meal just now Is that the rail roads have rearranged the freight rata. Whlla alfalfa meal formerly took the same rate as muiaturi ii.ii per ton to Portland the O. R. 4 N company concluded a short time ago that no such thing as alfalfa meal had been specified under feeds and therefore the rate was advanced to 87.40 a ton.. The rate has been changed back to the lower figure again by order of the state rail road commission. While comparatively a new article In the local market the demand for al falfa meal has grown wonderfullv and the rate to wholesalers has been ad vanced 60o a ton. The nrice to coh- sumera remains unchanged at 111 t ton. The entire grain market remains very quiet with quotations in the varlpus cash lines nominal. . . .
