The whole philosophy of the crusade against tuberculosis may ba summed up in the one sentence of the circular is sued by the committee on the preven tion of consumption of the United Gar ment Workers of America,- in conjunc tion with the committee on the preven tion of tuberculosis of the Charity Or- fanlzatlon society of New York city, hat is: V "Don't give consumDtlon to others: don't let others give if to you." The doctor may be able to cure people a-uer xney naye contracted tne disease, but If the crusade Is ever to amount to anything It must be through the co operation of every person afflicted with tuberculosis and of everyone who is free from It The eradication f the disease depends upon a campaign of edu cation reacning Dotn the sick and the well. The doctors are now .able to an nounce that it is the most curable of all chronic diseases, and that It is not hereditary. The literature of the crusade is hono- ful. It tells the masses that consump tion is preventable and curable. It carries to them the information th.it thousands have found good health again, and Informs them that even if one's case Itself is hopeless, he can find consolation in the thought that Bclence can tell him how to prevent the communication of his disease to those around him. It brings to the sufferer the message that he does not need to be regarded as a dangerous fierson to those with whom he comes n contact, but that by simply prac ticing a rigid care In the disposition of his sputum he can feel that be is not exDOslnar those dear to him to I the danger of infection. It tells him 1 where he can get more information on the subject and asks his help in spreading the' good news abroad. The Campaign of Education. Every charity organisation In the country stands ready to advise the con sumptive. The day for Ignorance Is I past . Advanced thought has advocat ed the registration of consumptives.
