The schooner Annie E. Smale Is an old-timer, having sailed the seas for years. She is said to be In need of re pairs to her rigging and It might be done while the vessel Is here loading. On her way out from Newcastle, Aus tralia, to Honolulu, the Smale lost a sailor nnmed Atfdrew Hanson from the boom. He couln not swim and was lost before boat could be lowered over the side. Hanson' was about 21 years of age and a native of Norway. A waterspout was passed in the same vi cinity.
